Where's Pegasus...?
Updated: Dec 4, 2019
Round Up: What we've been up to and what's next for our intrepid little rowing boat...
Can you believe it's been a whole year since we packed up our Toffee Crisp rations and caught a one-way flight to La Gomera to begin the adventure of a lifetime....! Next week, we will be heading back to wave off this year's fleet of intrepid rowers for the 2019 Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
For dot-watching addicts, the app will go live for this year's race just before the start on 12th December. We'll be avidly following some new pals we've made through this extraordinary event, including The Ancient Mariners, Fight Oar Die and Force Atlantic. Good luck guys!
We'll also be waving off our beloved Pegasus, who is taking to the high seas once more... Lots of you have been asking about her, so here's the official update:
Pegasus now belongs to a solo rower called Jim Phelan. Under his team name, Atlantic1Row, Jim is competing in this year's TWAC to raise funds for Team Felix, a partner fund of Duchenne UK. It's an amazing cause to support young people with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and their families. We've supported children with the same condition through our work with Dreams Come True, so we familiar with this terrible condition. Please support Jim's challenge if you can.

Jim and Pegasus have been training around Pwhelli in North Wales all summer and she is now in la Gomera awaiting her next TWAC adventure - check out her new look!

Good luck Jim and Pegasus! We'll be dot-watching and following you both on Instagram and Twitter.
So what about us...?
It's been an amazing year since we completed our row. Two more grandchildren have arrived (one each!) and we've been invited to speak at some wonderful events and conferences.
Upon our return we were invited to become ambassadors for one of our chosen charities Royal British Legion Industries and in September we were thrilled to be formally presented to Her Majesty the Queen as part of their centenary celebrations. What an absolute honour!

In terms of our fundraising, we haven't finished yet. The proceeds from the sale of Pegasus and our speaking events have topped up our fundraising total, which now stands at just under £100,000!
We are now so tantalisingly close to our target, that we are making one final appeal to see if can reach that big £100k mark. Please help us finish this amazing year on a high by donating whatever you can to: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/Team/GrandadsoftheAtlantic
Our chosen charities are also immensely grateful for every single donation. Every penny goes directly to them to support some vital work for veterans and children who need and deserve our support.
THANK YOU
Peter and Neil
